Newtonian Primary Mirrors - Quality Guarantee

Optical Mechanics' OMI mirrors are made from 2" thick precision annealed 7740 Pyrex™. Each OMI mirror is certified with an interferometer and guaranteed to meet or exceed the following industry standard specifications for diffraction limited optics:

Wave-front Quality
  • RMS wave-front error
    - less than or equal to 0.0712λ @ 550nm
  • Strehl Ratio
    - greater than or equal to 0.80 @ 550nm

Cosmetic Surface Quality

  • Scratch-Dig ratio 40-20
To better understand what these specifications mean and why interferometry is so important to assuring the quality of your optic, please read the article Understanding Your Interferometric Test Results.

Each OMI mirror is tested in auto-collimation against a precision optical flat and delivered with a Test Report showing the interferometric test results for the mirror.
