We have extensive experience and success designing, fabricating, and selling high- precision optics and opto-mechanical devices to individuals, government, research institutions, universities, and corporations. The company's Board of Directors consists of three members: James Mulherin, Rich Williams, and Dick Schwab.
Optical Mechanics develops, manufactures, and markets large aperture optics, opto-mechanical devices (such as Lidar, optical tube assemblies, and collimators), and advanced research telescopes.
With numerous, successful installations in major universities, governments, and observatories, Optical Mechanics research telescopes have set industry standards by innovating and implementing the latest technological advances in astronomy, science and engineering. Optical Mechanics has a highly efficient production line to fabricate Newtonian mirrors for Dobsonian telescopes for the amateur astronomy market.
The company is the dominant market leader in sales and quality, and now supplies the majority of mirrors for Obsession Telescopes, the leading manufacturer of large Dobsonian telescopes in the world. The company also manufactures opto-mechanical instruments for the Lidar market. The company headquarters is located in Iowa City, Iowa with operations and manufacturing performed in a new 8000 sq. ft. facility.
